designing my own paper.

i have decided to create my own paper designs to make my flowers out of, however given the time restraints i doubt it will be achievable to create enough designs to create a large amount of flowers. so i have decided to use paper designed by Laura Ashley. i also used textured papers to give the flowers an alternative edge.

many of the designs below i have printed off and produced paper flowers from. with a combination of my own designs and some deigned paper by Laura Ashley i created my final piece.

here are the papers i have designed.

this image i have chosen to re use as an idea in the early stage of this FMP came to an end so i made sure to use it if it came into use.

having given thought to the colour scheme of my final design and the amount of  paper flower samples i chose not to print and make flowers out of this design as the colours contrasted with the rest of my final piece.

to create this image i plugged my graphics tablet into the pc which allows me to use a pen like its a mouse. this gives me more control over the position of the cursor. having more control allows me to use the paintbrush tool on Photoshop much like i would if i was painting a piece of paper, only if i make a mistake i can undo it rater promptly. i also have more control of the opacity of the colour i am using. this allows me to create a smooth washout look with any colour i desire without getting myself covered in paint and other traditional mediums.

i chose to use Evanescence's band logo to create the design mainly because i thought it would be interesting to see what the finished flower would be.

to create this design i created a washout background as described above, i simply dropped an image of the bands logo over the top of the background and flattened the image.

for this one i just used the paintbrush tool and i had the opacity set fairly low.

as withe the above image i used the same tool just changing the colours used.

with this image i chose to mix the designs up a bit by just scribbling about the page in various colours. i didn't end up printing this image out mainly because i chose to stick to a colourscheme consisting of blacks, purples pinks and reds so this image would contrast agaisnt that.

much like the above image this was created by simple scribbling on the page, this time i chose colours that fitted in with the colour scheme i chose.

for this one i used the paintbrush tool again this time i changed the angle in which i have previously used. i decided to try a horizontal style. however, i dont think it is as successful as the previous images therefore i havent included it in my samples or final piece.

On the other hand this image, where i reverted back to the diagonal method of painting, has turned out far better than the above image. i noticed this and included it in my final piece.

given how successful the above image was i decided to stick to the same method for most of my designs. this achieved great results but if i was to create mass amount of flowers the designs could have benefited from additional details

i changed the colour of the designs so that i would have a flowing change in colours that was able to flow effortlessly between each colour without there being too vast of a change in colour. looking at my final piece this has been achieved. however some of the designs could have been improved upon given more time.

when designing this one i decided to do something i hadn't tried before. by using the paintbrush tool and a mid opacity i was able to use a circular motion to create this image. at first i wasn't sure if i liked it or not but i decided to print it out anyway. it wasn't until i made it into a flower when i changed my mind. this has to be one of my favorite designs.
