Having chosen my main focus point i then started researching and testing origami flowers. Some of these attempts turned out better than others, i followed the steps from a website so i could narrow down the possible flowers that i could produce in large amounts. through process of elimination i decided that the tulip would be the most successful type of flower to make.
i started off by making tulips out of plain white paper before using craft paper which has been pre-cut to a square which is the starting size of paper needed to make the flowers. at first i started making flowers out of a varied range of colours and patturns which gave mixed results as some papers where more suitable for a flower theme. once i selected the designs that i thought complemented the remaining lyrics of the song, i created a number of flowers in various sizes. it soon became clear that i wouldnt have enough designs to create a vast amount of flowers. in order to generate more designs i decided to create paper designs on photoshop. i chose to use photoshop because it is a program that allows me to create a design once and print as many copies as i want to which is perfect for origami sculptures. not only does it allow me to mass produce a set deisgn it also enables me to have total control of the sizes of the flowers that i make.
For my first paper design i thought i'd use one of an album cover design i created earlier on in the project before i had a change of mind. i used the image mainly because i already set the size for a square so i knew the design would be easily adabtable to make into flowers. once i was happy with the outcome of the flower i then decided to link the paper designs in with the other lyrics of the song. i took the line 'watch my purple sky fly over me' and developed designs using purples, blues and reds which became successful.
